The Mass of Palm Sunday is in the books, except for you Sunday evening church-goers, and I have a few questions. Maybe they will morph into observations; we'll see.
Did your Mass begin with the opening Gospel of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem? This Gospel is to be read at the entrance of the Church; where the procession gathers.
Did your Mass have the blessing of the palms or was there an announcement that the palms had already been blessed at a previous Mass?
Assuming that the Gospel of the Passion was read did you observe the following:
If there was a Deacon present, did he take the part of the narrator?
If not, was a trained lector used to read the narrator?
For the parts of the Gospel spoken by Christ, did the presiding Priest take those parts?
If not, who did this?
For the part of the voice, the specific words of certain individuals like Peter, Judas or Pontius Pilate(as an example), was a specific lector(or person) assigned these parts or were they shared by the crowd?
The parts of the Gospel assigned to the crowd, specifically the line "crucify Him", were they indeed proclaimed by the crowd
Was the long version Passion even proclaimed today or did Father simply read the short version?
Was there a homily today? If so, was it shorter than normal?
I hope I get some responses; based on various comments I've seen on facebook and others blogs, I guess we may have witnessed a few liturgical abuses today??? In any event, I hope your experience of today's Palm Sunday liturgy was a wonderful beginning to your Holy Week.
