Louisiana election day observations

1. Incumbent Governor John Bel Edwards was more than pretty sure that he was going to win outright tonight.  He did not.
2.  JBE is still going to be a prohibitive favorite in the runoff.
3.  Be honest, nobody gave Eddie Rispone a snowball's chance in hell but there he is, in a runoff.
4.  Ralph Abraham deserved to lose it all; if he was the GOP favorite, then why was his one of the worst campaigns ever run in Louisiana.
5.  Republicans dominated all other statewide races except for Secretary of State.
6.  Jefferson Parish elected it's first female Parish President; the daughter of the late Harry Lee.
7.  St. Tammany seemed to send a message to incumbents, knock off the southshore like courthouse gang style of politics.
8.  Also, St. Tammany, especially Pat Brister, no, we don't want every square inch of this parish concreted over.
9.  In Baton Rouge, they gave birth to a brand new city named for a famous Catholic Saint, welcome to St. George, Louisiana!
10.  Rispone's performance probably means somewhere between 2-4 visits by Donald Trump and Mike Pence.
11.  Republicans will hold dominating advantages in the state House and Senate; maybe this time GOP Senators will act like they belong to the GOP.
12.  Louisiana politics used to be a veracious appetite for Louisianians but it did not feel like it this time.
13.  If you lost and are not in a runoff; take your signs down by tomorrow at noon.
14.  If you are in a runoff and want to earn my vote, DONT call my house!
