For the vast number of Catholics who worship in the Ordinary Form and can mostly attend Mass on the weekend they will recall the color green; as in green vestments. Yep, we are back in Ordinary Time. Actually we've been in Ordinary Time for a little over 2 weeks now but the last two Sundays brought us special feasts days that required white vestments: The Most Holy Trinity and The Body and Blood of the Lord.
Ordinary Time visits us twice in a calendar year; once from the end of the Christmas season (normally early-mid January) until the beginning of Lent (anytime from mid February to early March). It revisits us at the end of the Easter season (very late March to late April) all the way to Advent begins (very late November to very early December).
We pick up this weekend with the 10th Sunday in Ordinary Time and indeed millions of Catholics will see the wearing of the green. Now just because we enter a liturgical season named "ordinary" does not mean that the season, every Mass, our worship, our participation and our Catholic witness should be ordinary. No, Ordinary Time should be a time of extraordinary faith, extraordinary worship, extraordinary witness to everyone we encounter.
Wear some green yourself this weekend and remember, it's Ordinary Time and we are called to be Extraordinary!!
