A topless feminist activist reportedly attempted to grab a statue of the baby Jesus from the Vatican's Nativity scene in St. Peter's Square on Monday.
The activist, who was identified as Alisa Vinogradova, yelled "God is a woman," as she jumped over a rail to grab the statue, according to a Reuters photographer.
A Vatican policeman stopped the women from taking the statue and she was detained, Reuters reported.
This is not the first time a feminist activist has tried to grab the statue out of the Nativity.
A similar incident occurred in 2014. During that incident, an activist was able to take hold of the figurine before she was detained.
Monday's incident happened roughly two hours before Pope Francis delivered his Christmas Day address to 50,000 people in the square.
The Catholic leader stressed the need for a dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians during his Christmas Day address.
