I was in prison and you visited me

Today was another wonderful opportunity to be with the men at Rayburn Correctional as the Archdiocese provided a one day retreat.  Sister Judy, back for her 5th visit, and Dr. Ansel Augustine, provided a look at joy in the context of these last days of Lent.  149 men responded and choose to spend their Saturday at the chapel.

The day included great talks, some video, praise music and great food and fellowship.

Each man was served today with a hearty salad, a generous helping of Buffalo Wild Wings and snacks, coffee, lemonade.  They always appreciate the food and the effort to get them stuff they never get to eat in prison.

At the end of the day the men were asked to write a letter to god and to give to God a hurt, a disappointment, a challenge.  Then the men brought that letter to the front of the chapel, laid it in a bowl of water where the letter dissipated.  The lesson, give it to God and then let it go.

I absolutely love this ministry and the men of the St. Joseph Community at Rayburn Correctional!
