I was not the only one who said that the secular progressive infatuation with Pope Francis would be short lived.
Grasping at straws they took his “who am I to judge” comment out of context, pumped it up and rode it home to a Time magazine POY cover. They smiled and salivated over his washing the feet of prisoners–and one of them was a Muslim woman!!! Todd Unctuous and his crowd wanted desperately to believe that the new pope was one of them–a “deeply concerned” liberal who cared only for the poor, the women and the poor persecuted homosexuals.
They are now waking up to the stunning realization that errrm… The Pope is Catholic.
This article in Salon sounds quite angry and bitter. Anna March whines and whimpers and then stamps her foot when she discovers that the Pope is not going to ordain women, endorse contraception, fund abortion and condone same sex marriage. Then in the usual champagne socialist way she pretend that all she really cares about is the poor.
It is because she cares so much for the poor that contraception should be allowed. Never mind that most people in poor countries want more children because it is their way of providing for their old age. It is because Anna March cares so much for the poor that she wants abortion on demand. What a wonderful way to show compassion on the poor–kill their babies. It is because she cares so much for the poor that she wants same sex marriage…not sure how that one fits the narrative.
According to Anna the Pope’s gregarious ways, his charming off the cuff remarks, his dialogue with atheists, his non judgmental attitude and living in the Vatican guest house is all a PR stunt organized by the Pope’s new PR guru Greg Burke–who we’re told is really a sinister Opus Dei member who is (shock horror whisper it–celibate!) She opines that Burke got his job with a wink and a nudge from Cardinal Dolan and that Burke probably whips himself alone in a dark room somewhere in the Vatican!

Dan Brown come back. All is forgiven. We read in the byline that Anna Marsh writes fiction and drama. There’s one truth in the article then.
This from a writer, who would presumably sneer at conspiracy theorists. Here are some other details from Anna’s make believe article: The Pope’s apartment at the Domus Santa Martha is now described as “a three room suite”. Notice how, when the liberal journos wanted a humble pope it was “a room in the simple guest house.” Furthermore, it seems the Pope has not abandoned the luxurious apostolic palace, but uses the frescoed rooms as his office and meeting place for dignitaries and he still (again shock and dismay) gives his Sunday blessing from the Window of the Apostolic palace.
Never mind common sense realities like, “Maybe it’s not suitable to greet the Queen of England in your bedroom your holiness, and perhaps the security arrangements are in place at the Apostolic Palace?” Never mind that the window in the Apostolic Palace just happens to provide perfect visibility to everyone in St Peter’s Square. No, that doesn’t fit with Anna’s new narrative that Pope Francis is a hypocrite and his popularity is the result of an absolute genius of a shadowy PR master.
