On a quiet February afternoon, and a newly ordained deacon of two months, I wanted to find a way to communicate my faith, ministry and life with others. Throughout formation I had begin sending e-mails to my "inbox" list of contacts but I heard about this wonderful world of blogging.
In 2009, I was pretty internet ignorant; let's just say computer ignorant. With each passing year when I was in my formation training, less and less of my brother candidates were toting the old notebooks (I'm talking spiral notebooks here) and were busting out the PC at classes. I was always one with the good old fashion pen and paper.
After being challenged by one of my newly ordained brother Deacons that putting together a simple blog was, well, simple, I decided on a Sunday afternoon to try. I mean nothing was going on after a busy Sunday morning in the Church and Wendy was sound asleep taking a much deserved Sunday nap. There wasn't even any football to watch. By the end of the day, February 6th, 2009, my blog was born.
It's still pretty simple and I am by far no internet blogging genius. But I indeed love blogging and am encouraged that it is actually read. I love when I am inspired to write my own reflections or share my homilies but over the years I have decided to add important stories of the faith I find from a myriad of sources I like or trust!
So even though I missed the actual date by a few days, I am wishing my own little blog Happy 5th anniversary and hoping you and many more will come for a visit often.
Here is the simple humble 1st post in the history of the abitadeacon:

Happy Anniversary! And blessed wishes.
