Confirmation night tonight!

Tonight at Most Holy Trinity Parish 10 CCD students and 1 adult were confirmed by Archbishop Alfred Hughes, retired Archbishop of New Orleans.  The small group, lacking nothing for enthusiasm and dedication to their confirmation preparation, received the gift of the Holy Spirit by the prayers, the laying on of hands and the anointing with holy Chrism by the Archbishop!

I was honored by the class to read the Gospel for the confirmation mass and was personally happy to be assisting Archbishop Hughes who was my ordaining Bishop.

Among the Saint names chosen tonight by the confirmandi included Joan of Arc, Sebastain, Ann(mother of Mary), Charbel, George and Veronica.

Confirmation is that final step for young Christian people in the reception of Sacraments of Initiation.  In our archdiocese young people receive the sacrament in 11th grade.  We pray that the grace of Confirmation will strengthen these young people to face the world as young adults.

For me, I'm so happy to witness the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the reception of the Sacrament and the joy of sharing the night among our family community at Most Holy Trinity Parish!
