>>>>I'm going to admit it early on; after tomorrow's activities I will miss the 2012 Summer Olympics. From my early days as a child, I have loved watching the Olympics; even if they are mostly taped delayed. When I was not home, attending to my ministry duties, I DVR'd the events. I've managed to see quite a bit of the games. Since I'm admitting things, I got to tell you, with no shame whatsoever, I pull wildly for the American team. I want to see the good old USA on top of the medal count, both gold and overall. Take a look at the chart above, with just a few events left on closing day tomorrow, one of them USA men's basketball, the overall USA team is assured staying on top in both categories. This will occur despite the fact that the USA team left many medals on the table and we had some very disappointing failures in areas like men's boxing, men's gymnastics, equestrian events and a few other things that the Americans would normally win medals. But I can't dwell on these missed opportunities. What about swimming and track & field. What about all the women's team sports where USA dominated. What about the unexpected surprises in some of the less televised events.
When the Olympics officially end tomorrow evening, we will have just a year and a half wait to the Winter Games from Russia. For now, I will enjoy the memories of the Summer Games of 2012 in which the USA again showed the world: We are #1!!!!!
