Ohio hangs in the balance
After Idaho, Romney posts 4 wins, Santorum 3
Two Super Tuesday states are still up for grabs, including the most hotly contested prize: Ohio. FULL STORY
>>>Super Tuesday is just about in the books and as I write this Romney has won 4 states but looks like Ohio will be his in a very tight race. Santorum won 3 states and did hold the Ohio lead for most of the night. The only state we won't know about until morning is Alaska.
When it comes to delegates this day will see the majority going to Romney. Despite front-runner status, the GOP elite squarely behind him, and money to burn, Romney still can't seem to seal the deal. This makes me wonder out loud if there was one consolidated conservative left, how tough would the nomination be for Romney to secure. With the Georgia victory, winning your home state, Gingrich will probably stay in. That is not good news for Santorum. With some southern primaries coming up in the next few weeks we will probably see a Santorum-Gingrich battle while Romney waits for more political friendly states.
As I see it, this is Romney's to lose with, at this stage, only Santorum standing in the way. Gingrich can't get there. He could be a major game changer if he stepped aside and endorsed Santorum. Of course, nobody sees that happening.
Then there is Ron Paul. You know he's like that tiny gnat that annoys the heck out of you but you can not see. Ron Paul, no matter how good a man he may be and how constitutional he is, will never win the Republican nomination. He should just move on. He truly serves no purpose, as far as securing a nominee who can challenge Obama in the general election.
Overall, I am not very excited about this election. Republicans seem to be very interested in snatching defeat from the jaws of what should have been victory. And President Obama is smiling all the way to mandating against reliious liberty:(
