The LSU v Alabama game in two weeks should be the best college football game of the year. One thing for sure, the build up and the hype will be crazy. With three starters on the bench and the starting center still nursing a bum ankle, LSU looked like they would have demolished anybody today. We probably forgot that they did destroy the defending national champs; easily, almost too easily.
LSU is good. Through 8 games this is the best LSU football team I've followed since 1968. 8-0 against this schedule, with many road games and by double digits is flat out unbelievable. I've gone from a frustrated Les Miles fan to an all out Les Miles fan. His overall body of work consistently over 6 and two-thirds years deserves respect.
He has managed the distractions of one bad news story after another. And from sources close to the team, I am told he never gives up on folks and is a major reason many of them redeem themselves.
Offensively LSU is more than efficient. Jarrett Lee has been the most major of all surprises. The offensive line is amazing. The defense is past freaky good. Not only strong but fast, this defense gets the job done. A total annihilation of Auburn with two key starters sitting(on defense) is crazy.
Tonight I watched the game on tape, I had diaconate duty all day, and saw a whole new level of power and dominance from even the special teams. I am in awe.
But fast forward to Alabama. I totally understand that we have to play that game. As a fan, I want total destruction against Alabama. As a football fan I really think LSU v Alabama is the national championship. Tonight I believe LSU to be best team in the land. And that is not just being a homer. But, I also believe Alabama is the next best team in the land. And of course there is always that Nick Saban thingy.
Whatever happens, at the end of that game, I believe we will have watched the national championship, because if a national championship is about the winner of the two best teams, then we have that in two weeks. And unless something happens I can't conceive, when that game is over, the two best teams in the country will remain LSU and Alabama.
No doubt about it!
