I hope every dad had the opportunity to enjoy Father's Day today and for those who struggle with this day my wish is for healing and peace.
For me, I was excited about spending the morning and the evening assisting at Mass and preaching a homily that included some thoughts on Father's Day. Of course we honored Our Father by being present at Mass and worshipping Him.
Normally, prop me up in chair, a good mean, the TV remote, hopefully good golf on TV; that's enough for me. Today, not so much! After a morning visit with my NC family via Skype, where we got to wish our first child Jimmy a happy father's day and visit with the kids, we headed south to the rehab facility where Wendy's mom is currently staying; for at least two more weeks. I brought her Communion and we just checked on her making sure she was having a good day. The week ahead brings much more physical rehab as the goal is to improve her strength and get her walking well even with a walker. From there, we took off for my daughter's house and a visit with Brennan. Our 4-hour visit included lunch and some good play time with our newest and youngest grandchild.
From there I went back to St. Jane to offer Benediction and assist and preach at 6 pm last chance Mass. By 8 pm I am home and tired.
A good day! So grateful for gift of being a father and grandfather and also glad I know that the Father loves me!
