New Orleans gains six new priests on Saturday

This year’s ordination class is the largest for the Archdiocese of New Orleans since 2001.
The men in this year’s class of priests found their common calling to the priesthood coming from varied backgrounds: Deacon Patrick Carr, a former CPA, found balance in the priestly vocation; Deacon Paul Clark realized his vocation while serving as a Katrina volunteer in 2006; Deacon David Ducote, a Chalmette native, who’s faith was strengthened after the storm; Deacon Francis Dzung, a Vietnam native, patiently waited 21 years to become a priest; Deacon Francis Offia, a Nigeria native, has been steeped in Catholicism his entire life; and Deacon Kenneth Smith, a former New Orleans chef who stepped out of the kitchen and into the seminary.
