Home tonight hardly moving because the day was long and difficult and my RA is flaring like crazy. I begin my prescription regimen Sunday although I did take a pain pill today. I will be taking a RA medication along with some folic acid. Pray for me as I always pray for you!
Tonight marks 2 weeks since my wife was unceremoniously let go from her job. She has been a trooper, working some special projects, applying for and going on job interviews, all the while planning our daughter's wedding and working hard to get her mother settled back in Louisiana soon. She truly is remarkable and continue to pray that her job is waiting for her and this time it be one that makes her happy.
Last night Wendy and I had a very nice, quiet anniversary, marking 38 years! We went out for dinner and a few margaritas(mostly Wendy) and just caught up with our hopes, joys, emotions, and even our concerns. I am very proud, and thankful to God, to have reached 38 years married sacramentally to my only girl. And I think that is a pretty cool thing too!
Ordination for 19 men to the permanent diaconate is now just 3 weeks away. You can peruse this blog and find stories from me about the Class of 2015 going back 4 years and more. And now ordination is upon them. Tragically, we were informed today of the death of one of the candidate's adult children. It is my understanding that it was sudden and quite unexpected. Please pray for the Allen family in your mercy and charity.
You may have noticed that on the pages of this blog I have avoided the dust up of the Duggar family drama and the Bruce Jenner disaster. In the end, I just believe that there are plenty of places to read and re-read about this stuff. Suffice to say, there is plenty of wrong and concerning about both these stories and I believe that includes the amazing amount of uncharitable and unkind words on social media. Even in these incredible headline gathering stories, we are still called to love the sinner, to pray for the sinner and to call out sin for what it is: sin. And as Christians, we need to use these occasions to remember that sinners all are we.
Finally, now that we are in June, the beginning of the string of months I usually despise, I focus on my ministry and the upcoming transition for me from one parish to another. I am beginning to get excited about my move back home, to St. Jane Parish and at the same time thinking about all the people and blessings I will certainly miss at Most Holy Trinity.
For now, relaxing on a Friday night, keeping the faith, praying for many and asking for your prayers and looking forward and looking up!
