Firefighters finish mowing lawn for heart attack victim
BAYTOWN, Texas - Texas firefighters finished mowing the lawn of a man who suffered a heart attack mid-mow and left behind a note for the man's wife.
The act of kindness has gone viral and helped bring the community together, ABC News reports.
The firefighters in the city of Baytown responded to the 911 call Tuesday.
After the man was transported to the hospital, members of the Baytown Fire Department's Station 4 returned to the home to finish the man's lawn for him.
They then put the lawnmower away, locked the garage, and left a kind note to the man's wife:
“We felt bad that your husband didn't get to finish the yard, so we did. We noticed the padlock to the garage was unlocked so we locked it and placed your key in the mailbox.
We are very sorry that your husband became ill. We hope he has a speedy recovery.
Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you out.
Baton Fire Department, Station 4, A-shift”
The community of Baytown has since rallied around the firefighters for their act of kindness.
"All of our City employees are proud to serve the citizens of Baytown, but this is truly special," the city said in a statement posted on Facebook. "We couldn't be prouder of our guys from Station 4. Our prayers are with the family at this sad time."
Unfortunately, the victim of the heart attack did not survive. He has yet to be identified. *ABC News contributed to this story.
