An unexpected start and ending to my Saturday

Yesterday I posted about our vacation visit with our NC family and #1 grandson and how the trip was messed up by a vicious stomach virus that caught both me and my daughter.  When I posted yesterday, I fully expected that my last visit with Calvin was Thursday night, before I took ill.  I had a pretty strong recovery on Friday evening and awoke very early this morning free of fever and feeling 100% better.  With my son's permission I got to make a quick visit, with my wife and daughter, to say goodbye before we hit the roads.  Anytime with Calvin, brief as it may be, is precious time.  All you grandparents out there surely know what I'm talking about.

We got on the road before 10 AM EDT and forgetting that we usually leave NC much later in the day, we arrived at our destination to spend Saturday evening at 5 PM.  Hey, that's too early.  We did a recalculation on the GPS, made sure that my wife, not impacted by the virus from hell was feeling sturdy, and we just kept on keeping on.  We arrived all the way home before 11:30 PM CDT.  Yes it was a long day and yes Sunday won't be spent driving, but bet on this, we will sleep in and get ready for the week ahead!

All in all, illness aside, what a wonderful week and what a great day to get all the way back home!  And one more for good measure: #1 grandson and #1 son:
