Today being the first Friday of December was our Adoration and Benediction day. This is the only first Friday of Advent so I was thinking; what do Adoration and Advent have in common?
Both speak to waiting; to anticipation. And they both speak to a Messiah who comes to us and a people who come to Him.
Every Advent we wait in joyful hope for His coming; both the commemoration of His 1st coming at His birth and His glorious 2nd coming still to happen. And in Eucharistic Adoration, we can adore and worship Him who is totally, completely and really present in our present!
When we spend time with Him in Adoration, we are waiting patiently with Him. We spend our time praying and adoring and waiting right there in our pew as we watch Him and He watches us.
And just as Jesus came to us as a babe in Bethlehem, he comes to us in the Eucharist. And just like that manger scene draws people of faith to Him, the Eucharist draws us to Him as we, in procession, come forward to receive the Bread of eternal life!
So watch, be vigilant and keep waiting. It's Advent, and He will come again; in His 2nd coming and the Eucharist.
