Long before I was ordained a Deacon, even long before I thought about formation, even before we moved to Abita Springs, I was a very active member of an organization known as the Jaycees. A leadership/community service organization, it once flourished across the country and we had about 7,500 members. In 1987 I was elected the 48th President of the state organization and served until 1988. I had the incredible opportunity to interact with thousands of people, traveled the entire state every single weekend for a year and made an incredible amount of friends and contacts. It's been a long time since I've seen so many of these people; until this weekend.
A group of like minded folks arranged a reunion of Jaycees who served in the 70's thru the 90's in Marksville so this is where Wendy and I will be for the rest of the weekend.
More info later, more posts tomorrow afternoon, for now, I'm back in the 80's reliving my Jaycees days!
