Focus TV Disaster Relief
Historic Flood devastates priceless film archives of Archbishop Philip Hannan and much of our film equipment and sets.
Focus Worldwide Network' Studio in Covington, LA sustained major flood damage from the recent historic rains in southern Louisiana. (March 12th 2016)
Focus Worldwide Network is an exciting, innovative, broadcast and internet network which reaches over 150 million people worldwide. Our programming consist of religious, entertaining and cultural shows for Christians all over the globe.
The Pope has repeatedly called upon "God's faithful people" to use the technological marvels of this age "To serve humanity and transcend vocation of every person and thus give to the Glory of the Father for Whom all good things come"
"For the Catholic Church to be absent from TV, is to be absent from the modern world." - Archbishop Philip Hannan, Founder of Focus TV.
Although the studio sustained serious flood damage the show must go on!
Among the priceless items damaged or destroyed were 30 years of archival historically films of the Archbishop filming among other things:
• The Catacombs of Rome along the Via Vento. This film represents the last time film cameras were allowed in the Catacombs.
• The tearing down of the Berlin Wall.
• Film of the Archbishop interviewing experts who verified the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, as well as footage of the Shroud at the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans.
• Film footage documenting the first mass graves discovered in Lithuania.
• The Archbishop's film documenting his time in the 82nd Airborne division during the time leading up the WWII.
• Footage of the Archbishop with Mother Theresa in Calcutta.
By the grace of God and the quick action of the Clergy and Parishioners of St. Peter's Parish in Covington, LA much of what could be salvaged was retrieved from the waters. These people are our heroes!
Focus TV wishes to replace film equipment damage in the flood waters as well as to proceed with the costly restoration of 30 years of the aforementioned historical archive films from Archbishop Hannan.
While donations of any amount are much needed and greatly appreciated, we are offering a small token of our gratitude to the first 250 people who donate $250 or more. These individuals will receive a copy of a the Archbishop’s book Rome: Living under the Axis.
This book, formerly named Dear Everyone, is a collection all of the letters the Archbishop wrote to his family and neighbors during the pre WWll years. These letters are some of his most memorable "historical" experiences as a young seminarian at the North American College in Rome from 1936 - 1940. The letters were discovered in a suitcase, saved by his mother, after her death. Although written over 65 years ago, Rome: Living under the Axis remains a book for our time and should be handed down from generation to generation.
