Politics over truth, politics over facts; fair and balanced my ass.
There has been no bigger opponent to the Catholic Church and Pope Francis among the major Cable TV news outlet than Fox News. Unless you walk the fine line of the Gospel according to Fox, no one, including Pope Francis is immune from attack.
Fox News was the network of all the majors, including NBC and the even more liberal MSNBC with the least amount of air time given to the election of Pope Francis and discounts more than any other network the contributions of the Catholic Church in terms of fighting against abortion, upholding traditional marriage and being the top international charitable organization in the world.
Top Catholics like Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity have often claimed their Catholicism but quickly rely on the word "but" when Catholic teaching does not align properly with their brand of politics. They are definitely willing to throw Catholicism under the bus if it does not tow the line with Fox News brand of conservatism and even Republicanism.
So yesterday the Catholic Brian Kilmeade, most known for being part of Fox and Friends in the morning, gets on the radio with Chris Wallace and literally attacks the Pope. He was so over the top. The latest "fair and balanced" offender did what Fox complains about often: spew personal opinion and bias instead of reporting news.
Fox News is no friend of the Catholic Church despite the relationship they have with Father Jonathan Morris. Despite being the one news channel that will focus on the evils of Planned Parenthood and the absurdity of the so-called gay marriage phenomena sweeping the country, they remain firmly planted as an anti-Catholic, Pope Francis hating organization.
Here is Kilmeade's screed, both in writing and spewed forth from his own mouth:
