On this Friday night

I love Friday nights in the fall but tonight, still technically being summer, feels ever bit like it.  Very hot and humid weather has settled in.  Still it's Friday night and all around the area it's high school football.  Incredibly, I switched over to ESPN only to catch a high school game featuring one of our Archdiocese of New Orleans High Schools in the nationally televised game.

This week was transition week as I returned to work and routine after our exciting vacation with the NC family and grandkids last week.  It was a good week at work as my bank continues to reap the benefits of the Capital One Bank closing branches, laying off people and continuing to disrespect the greater New Orleans area.  My bank, truly a local flavor bank, FNBC, has been nothing but a 3+ year delight to work for.  It's great working someplace that puts clients/customers first!

Ministry this week was it's usual awesome!  I assisted at last Saturday mornings Mass and attended a prayer service for Sheriff's deputies, assisted at two Sunday masses, assisted again on Monday morning.  For me, one of the highlights of the week was facilitating our new Bible study for adults.  We are offering the Bible Timeline and have both a morning and evening session.  I handle the evening.  Between the two sessions we had 73 adults participating!  This is nothing short of awesome!  Thursday night was great too, assisting with the RCIA team that does a fabulous job at St. Jane's!  Tonight, I've put the finishing touches on my Sunday homily so I am good to go.

It was a good week in the diet and health department too.  I was hopeful that this would be a good week and since last Friday I have lost an additional 5.5 lbs.  So far, since beginning this eating plan, I have lost a total of 22.3 lbs.  Hopefully, more than losing weight, I will learn to eat for life and change some very bad habits that I was so incredibly addicted to.

So tonight, if the eyelids hold up I will watch our Friday night football round-up, and try to wake early enough to assist at Mass tomorrow morning.  I will be preaching in Abita at St. Jane's at both the 9 AM Mass and the 6 PM Mass!

Now, if we can get the weather to act fall-like, that would be great!
