Just a Monday night in September

September is rolling along and it sure feels like the hell pit of summer; again, there is precious little to like about summer.  I am only encouraged by the fact that we have had no hurricanes and that fall is soon to arrive, hopefully.

Wendy and I returned last night from a solid week of life in North Carolina and precious time spent with #1 grandson Calvin as we celebrated birthday #2.  We drove all day; leaving in the early morning and reaching Atlanta about the midway point of the Falcons/Saints game being played right near the interstate system.  Fortunately, the traffic flowed like it was the middle of the night and we soon realized that home before 10 PM was a distinct possibility.  And home we landed and sleeping in my own bed was beautiful.  Don't get me wrong; we miss the heck out of Calvin and his parents, Jimmy & Sara, but we are home and duty calls.

Life happens.  I spent my precious Monday off running errands and trying to find out about my daughters car which seemed to decide it no longer needs air conditioning.  After a couple of hours of diagnosis, a very expensive compressor is needed so the 2007 Saturn Vue is about to go bye-bye!  At least we all are on the same page that #1 daughter needs a new car and what the heck; she is now gainfully employed and now capable of her own car note.  Then this evening, it appears my very expensive car repairs from a month ago did not hold and the warning light is back.  A return trip to the dealership is in order.  But Tuesday is yet one more day off from work so that's good; I sure don't want to spend that last day off getting another car looked at.  But like I say, life happens!

I am so anxious to get back to some great ministry opportunities this month.  I'll be back at the prison on Wednesday and with our diaconate formation classes Thursday.  There is a homily in my near future and a couple of baptisms to prepare for.  Life indeed happens!

You know it's just a Monday night in September and I got these car issues hanging around and it's back to work on Wednesday.  Still, I am good; giving God glory and counting my blessings.  My prayers this week will be for many who have asked for prayers because they are facing much bigger challenges than I.  My hope this week is that all that I do will give Him greater glory.

And then it will be just another Tuesday in September; and life happens.  Thanks be to God!
