What a rich spiritual and informative couple of days spent with 22 men and 20 wives forming what will be the 2018 diaconate formation class. Over the next year, as they leave Rosaryville today, they will form community and engage in a course of study and spiritual prayer & reflection as they continue to discern God's call to ordination. We have plumbed the depths of the Simple Path this weekend and this morning we explored the fruit of peace; true spiritual peace!
The men and their wives were able to spend much time together in silent prayer and reflection, free at times to explore the deeply spiritual grounds of Rosaryville. They were also able to participate in Adoration & Benediction and leaned the communal way to pray Morning & Evening Prayer.
Perhaps one of the unique things about this retreat was the opportunity last evening to allow the retreat particpants to come together and ask any question about formation, diaconate, etc. as well as share reflections about the weekend.
For now, we are off as a group to attend Mass at the neighboring parish of St. Joseph's in Ponchatoula then we return for lunch and a final session that will be both informative and reflective.
And all the while we have been here in Rosaryville, our 2015 Class, now less than 1 year shy of ordination has been on retreat as well in Covington at St. Joseph's Abbey.
Can I ask for your prayers for both of these groups, our 2015 and 2018 classes in formation? I knew I could; thanks!
