All you need to know about Lent

Mardi Gras is practically over and we turn our full attention to the season of Lent, which begins at midnight tonight.  We all know that tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.  We all remember the practice of giving something up for Lent.  We remember that we will now see the purple or violet vestments and we no longer hear the Gloria or the Alleluia in the Mass.

But every now and then we stop and ask why?  Why do we do the things we do(or not do) in Lent?

Take a look at the link provided below and most of our questions will be answered.  For now just remember we enter a penitential season in preparation for Easter.  It is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
